Feature Lesotho Dangerman – Motebang to cause Bafana defensive problems?
With Bafana Bafana set to face Lesotho in their 5th Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier this week, here’s a look at a potential dangerman in the form of Sera Motebang, who currently plies his trade in South African football.
The Likuena, which means ‘The Crocodiles’, will provide South Africa a stern test at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday, 21 March.
As it stands, South Africa are joint-top in Group C, with Bafana, Rwanda and Benin sharing seven points after four matches played so far. Lesotho on the other hand, trail Bafana Bafana by a mere two points in 4th position.
While Hugo Broos named an experienced defensive department that included the likes of Sydney Mobbie, Siyabonga Ngezana and Khuliso Mudau, South Africa will have to keep a keen eye on Sera Motebang.
The Royal AM forward has been top performer for his club prior to their games being suspended in the PSL.
While Motebang scored just two goals in nine Betway Premiership games this season, the Lesotho star remained a regular in the Thwihli Thwahla starting XI during the first-half of the 2024/25 campaign.
Motebang has also been a constant feature for Lesotho in recent years and has managed to score 10 goals in 51 appearances for his country so far.
While Royal AM have not played since December 2024, it was previously reported that Motebang has been keeping fit with the Lesotho national team squad recently. It remains to be seen how sharp Motebang will be for the clash, nevertheless, the Royal AM star will no doubt be one to watch against South Africa this week.
